WASHINGTON DC June 1, 2020 – On Monday evening, William A. Keyes welcomed 18 outstanding young men to kick off the 18th summer of the Institute for Responsible Citizenship. Unfortunately, orientation took place over a Zoom conference call. All of the Institute’s sessions in June will be over Zoom. Keyes is holding out hope of having the scholars in Washington for the month of July. This summer will be very different from the previous seventeen summers, but the scholars are excited about the opportunity to engage with prominent leaders such as General Colin Powell and Congressman John Lewis, participate in professional development workshops, complete an academic seminar on economic and constitutional principles, and join the Institute network of over 200 talented African American men that includes Rhodes Scholars, Fulbright Scholars, PhD’s, MD’s, etc.
